Hi! My name is Kate Caughey and I am the quintessential all around creative. I was raised in Santa Barbara, CA, and went to college in Santa Barbara as well. In 2005 I graduated from UCSB with a BA in Art Studio. After college I landed a job with America’s favorite neighborhood grocery store chain doing sign work. I eventually worked my way up into doing murals… which had been a dream of mine.

After five years of working in the Santa Barbara region, I transferred to San Diego to pursue love, art, and life in a larger city… and I’m so glad I did! I continued working at the grocery store chain for the next 15 years… juggling motherhood, full time work, and as many side jobs as I could possibly handle… until this past summer when I left after 20 years to pursue my own art business and career! In this short time I have been so very grateful for the work I have received. I focus on murals, painting, print, design, and illustration… but I always love to try new things.

One of the most exciting and new art accomplishments in my life has been my participation in the 4th Annual Haunted House art show at Bread and Salt art gallery in San Diego. The theme was hospitals so I leaned into what I know best about hospitals… and created/built an immersive birth experience. It was met with delight, and I came away with a new found art community. Oh yes that’s right… I am a proficient builder and have a background in set design, building, and painting. I have done so many things in this life that I am proud of… but none quite like this next chapter.

I love my family to bits… I am married to my husband Matt and we have two boys that we are raising in the wonderful community of La Mesa. I am still figuring out how to run my own business and go after an art career on my own terms, but so far my heart is soaring with all the opportunities and growth I’ve been handed… and am handling… in this short amount of time. I am excited for what’s to come, and would sure love to connect with you! Let’s make art and have some fun!
